Easy American Buttercream
This classic crowd-pleaser is sweet, fluffy and easy to make.

Ingredients

cup
unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
4½
cups
confectioners’ sugar
1
tsp
vanilla extract
2
Tbs
milk
Dash salt (optional)
Instructions
In a large bowl, cream butter with a mixer until butter starts to lighten in color, 2-3 minutes.
Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar, mix on low speed until incorporated. Raise speed to medium-high and continue to mix until smooth.
Add milk, vanilla and salt. Cream until light and fluffy, 3-5 minutes.
If buttercream is too thick, add more milk. If buttercream is too thin, add more confectioners’ sugar.

Sift confectioners' sugar to help get rid of any potential lumps
To help beat the heat of warmer and humid temperatures, add 1 Tbs meringue powder
Also to help in hot weather, use a combination of butter and shortening
